Description

Organic Elixir Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Cuadrat Valley

The oils come from the same olive variety, the Arbequina, grown in the family-run Cuadrat Valley olive grove. All are "Extra Virgin DOP Les Garrigues." The different harvest periods of our olives result in a difference in the ripeness of the fruit and the fruitiness of the oil, which is expressed in our four varieties or selections.

They all offer the fiery fruitiness of fresh olives, with green aromas of grass and artichoke, interspersed with subtle notes of almonds and fresh apples. They also contain all the essential nutrients: fatty acids (protection against vascular disease), aromatic molecules (antioxidants), and vitamins A and E.

La Finca

Cuadrat Valley is located in the province of Lleida (Spain), between the towns of Albagés and Juncosa, 120 km west of Barcelona. Of the 90 hectares of land, 62 are dedicated to olive cultivation, while the rest of the property is home to native shrubs, groves and forests, a truffle oak grove, and almond trees.

Cuadrat Valley is located in the heart of splendidly preserved nature, shaped by artistic dry-stone construction, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site. The terraces, watering holes, and vaulted huts emblematic of the Les Garrigues region envelop, shape, and humanize the landscape.

THE ARBEQUINA

Small, round, symmetrical, very aromatic, and pale green, the Arbequina olive is a typical Catalan olive. It is the star of Les Garrigues. Legend has it that it was brought from Palestine in the 18th century by the Duke of Medinaceli, lord of Arbeca and descendant of the powerful Dukes of Cardona. It produces one of the finest olive oils in the world, guaranteed by the "Les Garrigues" PDO (Protected Designation of Origin).

THE LES GARRIGUES PDO

The Les Garrigues region is one of the Catalan regions with the oldest olive oil production. It's no coincidence that it boasts the oldest Protected Designation of Origin for extra virgin olive oil in Spain (1975 and certified by the European Union in 1996). The terrain and climatic conditions are the advantages of this PDO, which is characterized by low acidity and numerous organoleptic qualities such as a beautiful green color and a fruity flavor.

Conservationn

Darkness: away from direct light, especially sunlight, because it degrades polyphenols and chlorophyll.

Stable temperature: Ideally, it should be between 16°C and 20°C. Avoid both excessive heat (in the kitchen, near ovens) and excessive cold (never in the refrigerator except in extreme climates).

Closed container: always well covered, because oxygen is another great enemy.

Consumption: Although it can last, it is best to enjoy it in the year of its harvest to take advantage of all its freshness and aromatic nuances.

A family legacy among olive trees and vineyards

The history of Cuadrat Valley It's a story of return, of roots, and of passion for the land. It all began in L'Albagés (Catalonia), where the Cuadrat family had been growing olive trees for generations. In the 1930s, Sebastià Cuadrat Realp had to flee his homeland from the war, leaving behind his grandmother Magdalena Sardà's olive grove. Eight decades later, his granddaughter Evelyne Cuadrat Teycheney, with her husband Patrick And your daughter Caroline, decided to resume that interrupted dream.

Since 2014, the family has been recovering and acquiring properties until consolidating a property of 90 hectares managed under principles of sustainable agriculture, with a firm commitment to respect for the environment and excellence. Its objective: to produce a Les Garrigues DOP extra virgin olive oil that competes in quality with great wines.

While in Bordeaux, Patrick and Caroline develop their Grand Cru biodynamic wine project in Saint-Émilion, in L'Albagés, Evelyne and her cousin, the architect Josep-Maria CuadratThey have built a state-of-the-art olive oil mill. Inspired by precision viticulture, they apply the same level of rigor and expertise to the world of EVOO.

En Cuadrat Valley, olive oil is made with the same respect for the "terroir", the same care for every detail of the crop, and with the same passion found in the best vineyards in the world. It's more than an agricultural project: it's a reconnection with the family past and with the land.

To Made in Spain GourmetIt is a privilege to have a brand that is capable of redefining luxury in extra virgin olive oil.
